Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms", "Terms of Service") carefully before using the www.mauvsa.org website (the "Service") operated by MAUVSA ("us", "we", or "our"). Your access to and use of the Service is conditioned on your acceptance of and compliance with these Terms. These Terms apply to all visitors, users and others who access or use the Service. By accessing or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of the terms then you may not access the Service.


When you create an account with us, you must provide us information that is accurate, complete, and current at all times. Failure to do so constitutes a breach of the Terms, which may result in immediate termination of your account on our Service.

You are responsible for safeguarding the password that you use to access the Service and for any activities or actions under your password, whether your password is with our Service or a third-party service.

You agree not to disclose your password to any third party. You must notify us immediately upon becoming aware of any breach of security or unauthorized use of your account.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the state of Virginia, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of those rights. If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable by a court, the remaining provisions of these Terms will remain in effect. These Terms constitute the entire agreement between us regarding our Service, and supersede and replace any prior agreements we might have between us regarding the Service.


We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material we will try to provide at least 30 days notice prior to any new terms taking effect. What constitutes a material change will be determined at our sole discretion.

By continuing to access or use our Service after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms. If you do not agree to the new terms, please stop using the Service.

MAUVSA ("us", "we", or "our") operates the www.mauvsa.org website (the "Service"). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use and disclosure of Personal Information when you use our Service. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy. We use your Personal Information for providing and improving the Service. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. Information Collection And Use

While using our Service, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you. Personally identifiable information may include, but is not limited to, your name ("Personal Information"). While using our Service, we may also ask for and store your email address, occupation, academic background, gender, birth date, dietary restrictions, medical conditions, and personal interests.

MAUVSA uses information for the following general purposes: to customize your experience and the content you see, improve our services, contact you, conduct research, and provide reporting for MAUVSA event staff, MAUVSA Tech Team, and MAUVSA executive board.

When you register with MAUVSA and sign in to the Service, you are not anonymous to us.

Log Data

We collect information that your browser sends whenever you visit our Service ("Log Data"). This Log Data may include information such as your computer's Internet Protocol ("IP") address, browser type, browser version, the pages of our Service that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages and other statistics.

We use "cookies" to collect information. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, if you do not accept cookies, you may not be able to use some portions of our Service.

We may employ third party companies and individuals to facilitate our Service, to provide the Service on our behalf, to perform Service-related services or to assist us in analyzing how our Service is used.

These third parties have access to your Personal Information only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.


The security of your Personal Information is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Children's Privacy

Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 13 ("Children").

We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your Children has provided us with Personal Information, please contact us. If we discover that a Children under 13 has provided us with Personal Information, we will delete such information from our servers immediately.

MAUVSA routinely hosts events in the DMV (D.C., Maryland, and Virginia) region and abroad. MAUVSA requires that event participants read, understand, and comply with the Participant Saftely Disclaimer, the Media Disclaimer, and the Participant Declaration of Health & Fitness.

Participant Safety Disclaimer

MAUVSA events are potentially extremely challenging, both physically and mentally. The events are, by nature, hazardous. You understand that participation in a MAUVSA event carries a risk of injury, either through accident or due to overexertion. The risk of injury includes common minor injuries, such as cuts, grazes, bruises, scrapes, nausea, sunburn, muscle soreness and skin lacerations. The risk of injury also includes less common serious injuries, such as sprained joints, concussion, broken bones, mental or psychological stress, vomiting, fainting, infection, torn tendons, torn ligaments and property loss or damage.

Media Disclaimer

By participating in MAUVSA events, you understand that you may be photographed, filmed, or videotaped and you hereby give the Mid-Atlantic Union of Vietnamese Student Associations (MAUVSA) the right to take pictures and/or recordings of you and grant the perpetual right to use your likeness, image, photo (collectively, “image”), without compensation, for broadcast or exhibition in any medium and to put the finished pictures/recordings to any legitimate use without limitation or reservation. You hereby waive, release and forever discharge MAUVSA from and against any and all claims or actions arising out of or resulting from any use of your image. MAUVSA shall not be obligated to use, and may elect not to use, your image.

Participant Declaration of Health & Fitness


  • I have read carefully and understand the information set out above and below (in this Risk Notice and the Participant Safety Disclaimer).
  • In particular, I understand the inherent risks of MAUVSA events (please view Safety Disclaimer) and I confirm that I personally assume these risks.
  • I am in good health, with a fairly high level of physical fitness and mental clarity.
  • I have no pre-existing physical or mental conditions or illnesses which might impair my fitness and/or my ability to participate safely in a MAUVSA event.
  • I understand that, if detected during the course of a MAUVSA activity, I will be subject to a capture process that includes high intensity exercise routines which are both physically and mentally stressful. MAUVSA staff will run these routines and I understand that they may shout or use loud music or other loud sounds such as alarm bells to increase the mental stress placed upon myself and other participants.
  • I assert that I am both mentally able and sufficiently resilient to participate safely throughout the duration of the conference and understand that I may quit at any time by informing my family leader / team. I further understand that by giving up all of my attendee / participant privileges throughout the duration of the event before before it ending, that I will not be given a refund.
  • I have no pre-existing physical or psychological condition that could prevent me from participating or will be exacerbated by participating in the capture process or any other aspects of the MAUVSA event. If I do, I must inform the MAUVSA staff and state it on my registration form.
  • I have consulted my PCP in advance to confirm that I am fit and well enough to participate in an event of this nature.
  • I take complete responsibility for my health and fitness and my safe participation in MAUVSA events.
  • I take complete responsibility for the condition and adequacy of all clothing, footwear and any other equipment or personal property which I bring to an event.
  • I take complete responsibility for my conduct vis-à-vis other event participants and servants or agents of the event organiser. I will not do anything, nor fail to do anything, which would have the result of threatening or harming the safety or well-being of any other person. I will not use force or violence, nor use any threatening or offensive language.
  • I am not, and on the date of the MAUVSA event will not, be under the influence of alcohol or non-prescription drugs that will impair my ability to participate in the event. I understand that consumption of alcohol and any illegal drugs during the event is strictly prohibited and grounds for ejection from the event, without refund. I understand that after the event I may only consume alcohol from licensed merchants authorised by MAUVSA and I may not under any circumstances bring my own alcohol to the event or else I will be ejected from the event without refund. I understand that I will not approve of underage alcohol consumption as well.
  • I will comply fully with all instructions given to me by the event organiser or on its behalf, whether those instructions are given in writing or verbally. This may include an instruction to stop participating in an event and/or leave the event site.
  • In the event of injury to me or illness, I consent to the event organiser or persons on its behalf giving medical treatment to me.
  • I consent to being searched by the event organiser or persons on its behalf prior to entering the event area to check for illegal items and substances as well as any banned or prohibited items listed in the Rules.
  • I will obey all civil and criminal laws.
